Ex-Met Mike Pelfrey wins Twins debut
Less than a year removed from Tommy John surgery ex-Met Mike Pelfrey picks up his first win of his 2013 season in his Twins debut. Pelfrey picked the win going 5.1 innings giving up 0 (2) earned runs, on 5 hits and 2 walks and striking out 1.
Good for Mike Pelfrey. True he every amounted to quite to what Mets fans expected of him. But he was a very solid pitcher for a period of four years. 2008-11 he made at least 31 starts and threw at least 180 innings. Pelfrey was off to a good start to his 2012 campaign before requiring Toomy John surgery thus ending his season and his Mets career.
Pelfrey perhaps was just not a New York kind of guy. Perhaps the laid back small markey of Minnesota is what Pelfrey needs to just focus on pitching and being happy. Good luck to Pelfrey on the rest of his major league travels.
